The greatest punk album of the 1990’s? You could certainly make a convincing case, even with so much competition. Looking back, ….Wolves was the 90’s equivalent to London Calling, and not just for Rancid’s very obvious debt to The Clash’s sound.
While Green Day were writing songs about wanking and speed and Bad Religion were covering the straight-up politics of punk, Rancid were crafting achingly sad songs about life in the margins, set to the most insanely catchy punk hooks you can imagine.
