It’s easy to look back with a sneering contempt at Lauren Laverne’s indie pop career as being a kind of budget Daphne and Celeste, but to do so would show that you’ve not heard much behind the infectiously catchy Punka. In truth, Kenickie were one of the few truly working class britpop bands, and this, their debut, had more in common with The Undertones than it did with Blur.
